Application: Thermal superinsulation

Our award-winning SLENTITE® is the original robust aerogel panel based on polyurethane that the aerogel-it team developed in over 10 years during their work at BASF SE.

SLENTITE® is an especially attractive aerogel product for extremely limited spaces and highest energy efficiency while being easy to handle and install.

Polyurethane aerogel is also available as thin boards and thinnest sheets for extremely limited spaces - see here.

See here for our application guide

aerogel-it acquired the SLENTITE® technology from BASF SE at the beginning of 2022.

Some of the highlights:

  • Excellent thermal insulation performance for limited spaces and highest energy efficiency.

  • Stable low thermal conductivity below
0.019 W/(m*K) independent of blowing agents.

  • Superb reference material for thermal conductivity measurements.

  • Open porosity and humidity management properties e.g. for interior insulation in buildings.

  • Not dusty, easy to machine for facile installation .

  • Compatible to many adhesives.

  • Limited susceptibility to fire (Euroclass E EN 13501-1).

SLENTITE® polyurethane aerogel boards have the following typical properties :

  • Thermal conductivity (EN 12667): <0.019 W/(m*K)

  • Compressive strength (ISO 844): >400 kPa at 10%

  • Density (EN 1602): 120-130 g/l

  • Euro fire class (DIN EN 13501-1): E

  • Water vapor permeability (EN 12086): 8

  • Board size: ca. 55 x 38 cm

  • Board thickness: 13 - 15 mm

SLENTITE® boards have been tested successfully in the following applications:

  • Building and Construction (see case studies below):

    • Interior insulation

    • Thermal bridges

    • Floor insulation

  • Home appliances

  • Cooled logistics

  • Calibration of thermal conductivity measurement devices (see also Center for Applied Energy Research here)
