Lignin Bioaerogel AKL – Thermal Insulation

Lignin Bioaerogel AKL is 100% bio-based and super-insulating. Lignin Bioaerogel AKL enables conversion of the side stream lignin into a high-performance material.

Typical properties

Thermal conductivity (at 10°C, particle bed): 0.021-0.023 W/(m*K) (hydrophilic)

Particle size: 1-2 mm

Density: 50-100 kg/m³ (adjustable)

Internal surface area: 250-350 m²/g

Pore volume (< 100 nm): 1.9 cm³/g

Porosity: >90%

Lignin Bioaerogel AKL – Composite Boards

Lignin aerogel board

Lignin Bioaerogel AKL can be ground into powder and compressed into board form.

In the laboratory, we have achieved a record low thermal conductivity of 0.017 W/(m*K), making it ideal for high-performance insulation.

Lignin Bioaerogel AKL is still in development. Sample quantities are available at lab scale.
