What are Aerogels?

Aerogels are ultra-light materials with an extremely fine, highly porous structure – made of over 95% air.

Their pores are a thousand times smaller than a human hair, giving them extraordinary physical properties.

Originally developed for space exploration, they are now essential for thermal insulation in buildings, chemical plants, coatings and modern clothing, for safety electric vehicle batteries, as formulation additives and much more.

How are aerogels made?

A gel, similar to solid jelly, undergoes a special high-pressure drying process that removes the liquid while preserving the delicate structure.

The result? A lightweight, solid material based on minerals, synthetic polymers, or biopolymers.

Why Aerogels?

Their unique structure makes aerogels true multitalents.

Superior Thermal Insulation
Due to the Knudsen effect, aerogels prevent heat transfer more effectively than conventional insulation. They save space and maximize energy efficiency – ideal for buildings, industrial applications, and clothing.

Storage & Controlled Release of Liquids
Aerogels can absorb and securely retain large amounts of liquid, making them perfect for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and chemical processes.

Advanced Rheology Modification
As thickeners, aerogels enhance the flow properties of liquids – a sustainable and efficient solution for many industrial applications.
