How do we want to live in the future? And which materials do we need to make climate-friendly construction possible?
These questions are at the heart of the exhibition “Building the Future. How Do We Want to Live?” at the MIK Museum of Industrial Culture in Osnabrück.
The exhibition opened at the end of April 2026 and was attended by Falko Mohrs, Lower Saxony’s Minister for Science and Culture, and the Mayor of Osnabrück, Katharina Pötter (pictured), among others. Both emphasised the importance of actively addressing current and urgent challenges, initiating change and opening up new perspectives for climate-friendly construction.
Dr. Marc Fricke also attended the opening on behalf of aerogel-it.
For us, the exhibition marks a special moment, because it reflects the very reason aerogel-it was founded: We aim to make a relevant contribution to decarbonisation and transformation through low-carbon aerogels used as high-performance insulation materials.
As a high-tech company based in Osnabrück, we are delighted to be part of this high-quality exhibition. With our lignin aerogel, we demonstrate what a building material of the future could look like: lightweight, high-performing and full of potential for climate-friendly construction.
We are also in excellent company. Alongside aerogel-it, the exhibition features Sievert, Köster, Lok-Viertel-OS, TRIQBRIQ, Polycare and many other organisations working in different ways to shape the future of construction.
The exhibition demonstrates that climate-friendly construction is not merely a technical challenge. It requires new ideas, new materials, new partnerships and the courage to turn change into reality.
We are delighted that our lignin aerogel can contribute to this transformation.
